The Film and Audio Authors Association (ZAFA) brings together filmmakers - directors of photography, costume designers, film architects and other professions with bearing in mind the constitutionally and internationally guaranteed right to the protection of intellectual property (especially copyright), as well as to freedom of association, expressing the will to honor and defend these values.

ZAFA brings together in particular authors involved in audiovisual (AV) and auditing creation (A) from these artistic professions:
  • directors of photography,
  • costume designers,
  • film editors (post-producers),
  • film architects,
  • other creative artists, involved in a special way in the creation of works in audiovisual and audio work.

The position of ZAFA director will be filled by Autumn 2025
General Assembly of Members
The highest body of ZAFA meets regularly once a year, every ZAFA member has the right to participate.

Next scheduled meeting of the ZAFA General Assembly – Spring 2026.

Authorship Committee
ZAFA's advisory body on issues of assessing artistic creation, comments on proposals for amendments to the Distribution Rules and other ZAFA documents. The Authors' Commission will be staffed with experts in audiovisual creation and copyright by the end of 2025.
For authors

According to the Copyright Act (Section 83(2)), the authors of an audiovisual work are considered to be the director, the author of the script, the author of the dialogues and the author of the music that was created specifically for this work, and another natural person, only if they participated in the creation of the audiovisual work through creative mental activity.

Given the mission of ZAFA and the authorization to perform collective management granted by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, ZAFA primarily represents the following professions: directors of photography, costume designers, film architects and film editors.

The collective management organization ZAFA invites legal entities associating users to register with ZAFA by 31/7/2025 for the purpose of discussing the proposal for remuneration rates, which will be discussed and subsequently approved by the ZAFA bodies in connection with collectively managed rights.

The proposals for remuneration rates will be sent to these legal entities without delay for discussion with ZAFA.
